Can the solenoid valve continue to be energized for too long? What will be the impact?

In the field of industrial control, solenoid valve is a common actuator. In its working state, the current needs to be kept at all times, the loss is large, and the coil is easy to generate heat. It can be seen that in the field of industrial control, the burning of solenoid valve coils is widespread. Therefore, the solenoid valve energization time mainly refers to the coil energization time, which is also the core driving element of the solenoid valve. Its quality has a great influence on the performance and service life of the solenoid valve.

Everyone knows that solenoid valves are generally divided into AC220 and DC24V. Others include AC110, AC24, and DC12 that are not commonly used. The structure is basically the same. It consists of an electromagnetic element and a valve body. The electromagnetic part of the solenoid valve is composed of a fixed iron core, a movable iron core and a coil, and the valve body is composed of a sliding iron core, a sliding valve sleeve and a spring seat. Therefore, when the solenoid valve coil is energized or de-energized, the movement of the valve core will cause the fluid to pass through or be cut off, so as to achieve the purpose of switching and changing the direction of the fluid.

As for the solenoid valve to work for a long time, can the solenoid valve be able to withstand it? Solenoid valves generally do not burn out the coils. Now the solenoid valve coils are basically 100% ED. Here, 100% ED refers to the energization rate, and the solenoid valve can meet 100% long-term use. Indicates that it can be powered on continuously. However, if the method of use does not comply with the energization rate (ED), the temperature of the coil will rise and exceed the limit temperature of the insulation type. In severe cases, the coil will still be burned.

In other words, if the power-on time is too long, it depends on the specific situation of the site. Although the power-on time is long and the fever is severely hot, it generally does not affect its work. However, if the solenoid valve coil is energized, the long-term energized coil will definitely burn out under no-load conditions. The solenoid valve is usually heated severely due to long-term energization, so do not touch it with your hands. If the solenoid valve coil burns out, it will cause the valve or other actuators to fail to work normally, which will seriously affect the normal production of the workshop.

In summary, solenoid valves are very important in the production process, and the correct choice is crucial. Here are some basis for selection:

  1. Select the material of the solenoid valve according to the fluid parameters;
  2. Select the type of solenoid valve according to the length of continuous working time;
  3. Select the type of solenoid valve according to the actuator or application;
  4. Choose according to the type of valve;
  5. Choose according to environmental conditions;
  6. Divide and choose according to the hazardous area;
  7. Choose according to voltage.
